Jordan’s ambassador, Manar Dabbas, will address the DSF at the end of June.  It will be timely as the Israeli war in Gaza blazes to international horror at the scale of  Palestinian civilian casualties and the desperate suffering from near starvation. Jordan and Egypt are reeling from increased reports of Israeli plans to “encourage” Gazan families to flee across their borders.

Even former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has been appalled. In a recent interview with the Israeli news outlet Haaretz, he said last week: ‘The Government of Israel is waging a war without purpose, without goals, without clear planning and with no chance of success. Recent operations in Gaza have nothing to do with legitimate war goals. This is a private political war, and its immediate result is the transformation  Gaza into a humanitarian disaster area. Israel is committing war crimes.’

A senior Israeli source confided: ‘There is no chance of anything changing unless Trump gets involved.  He alone holds the cards to Gaza’s future.’
